I have always admired Barbara Barry’s work & yesterday made my first order for one of her carpets for Tufenkian! Very exciting. It’s a beautiful piece that the client is absolutely in love with.

Ms. Barry is well-known in the design community…she’s a bit of a celebrity actually. Her collaboration with Tufenkian began in the mid-1990s. Inspired by the distinct textures & striated colours of their handmade carpets, she created a collection that is muted, geometric, and classic modern. If you are buying pressure-treated lumber for a deck, keep in mind that they have probably been injected with powerful pesticides, which contain arsenic & chromium, to prevent rot & infestation. Ask before you buy! Enquire about CA-B pressure treated lumber or the other option is Brazilian Walnut, or Ipe. It is one of the densest exotic flooring options that is also long lasting and rot-resistant. It also comes as one of the darkest & most distinguished looking colours of imported hardwood. It’s a great choice for decks because it is low-maintenance, durable and doesn’t come with the problems often associated with composite & cheaper decking. You’ll often find Ipe in commercial applications as boardwalks, piers, docks, & outdoor benches due to its durability.
